Making Up Old Witrs?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Suppose a brother was not a hanafi (i.e. did not follow one madhab or followed another madhab) and did not pray his witr prayers regularly (because he did not consider them waajib). later, the brother started following hanafi fiqh in his ibadaat. does he have to make up the missed witr prayers from before he was a hanafi?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

He would not have to make those prayers up, though, of course, it is religiously superior to do so.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani.
