Asking forgiveness for non-Muslims & those who committed suicide

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

I was once told that if an individual dies in a state of disbelief, then a Muslim cannot make dua to Allah swt asking forgiveness for the person who has passed away. Is this correct? Can we make dua asking forgiveness for one who has committed suicide?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
