Someone swore “Bi Haq Allah I will not do X”
And then years later swore “Bi Haq Allah, I will try to do X”
Which oath does he have to follow, how does he expiate?
Answer:
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
One should follow the “better” of the two oaths–to one’s religion and worldly life–and expiate for the other. This is what is understood from the sunna of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
