What should we feel about the death of the Pope?

What should we feel about the death of the Pope?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his folk, companions, and followers

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Death is a sober reminder of the reality of the human condition, and of the fleetingness of time. Umar ibn al-Khattab had the following inscription on his ring:

“Death is a sufficient reminder, O Umar!” [Bayhaqi, al-Zuhd]

We should look at people like the Pope and others and take admonition: given that we hold what we belief to be true, we should have at least as much resolve, determination, and commitment as such personalities had for what they believed in. Allah Most High tells us, “And those who believe are more intense in their love of God.” [Qur’an. 2.165]

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
