Mistakes during hajj- ramal, ihram

Alhamdulillah I went for Hajj this year but am confused with this now. After pelting on the 10th, I did the animal sacrifice followed by shaving. Then I took shower and came out of ihram. When I went for Tawaf-e-Ziyarat, I was NOT in ihram on and hence I didn’t do theramal (fast walking in the first three circuits) and also I didn’t have my right shoulder exposed. Have I done something wrong here? I am not sure if I needed to perform Tawaf-e-Ziyarat in Ihram?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Wa’alaikum asalaam warahamtu Allah,

What you did is fine. The order [U1] is the following:

1- stone throwing

2- sacrifice

3- shaving

After doing this one is freed from ihram and everything is allowed except sexual relations with women. When one does the Tawaf al-Ziyarah, he does not have ihram on nor does he do ramal – or walk/jog during the tawaf. Ramal is only done when there is sa’y between Safa and Marwa after it, and exposing one’s shoulder is done only when one is in ihram, therefore, it doesn’t apply in Tawaf al-Ziyarah.

May Allah accept your Hajj. Our Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him said, “May Allah forgive the pilgrim and the one who the pilgrim seeks forgiveness for.” [Sunan Bayhaqi] So please make dua’ for us and ask Allah to forgive us.

May Allah bless you.
