Etiquettes of saying Salam/Greeting

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

I have heard there are certain etiquettes of saying salam, like a younger one should initiate the greeting. Or a rider should initiate the greeting when meeting a pedestrian. But I would like to know more details on the issue. Like do we say Salam when a person is reading Quran. Or When we join a meeting which is already in progress etc. Please provide us a compilation of such etiquettes.Traditionalist – Islam, Law, & Spirituality
