In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

There is nothing specifically wrong about doing so. Whether it is socially proper or not would return to the customs and practice of the land one is in, because customs and local practices are of consideration in matters where there is no specific textual guidance of the Qur’an and Sunna.

And Allah alone gives success.
