Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Would it be permissible for a child to watch a cartoon about Habil and Qabil which was made by Muslims?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

According to the cautious majority opinion, it would be considered picture-making, and thus impermissible.

However, some scholars (including notable Hanafi jurists I studied with) consider wholesome cartoons for children to be an exception.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
