Madhabs position on length of beard

Assalamu-Alaykum,
I have read your articles on the permissibility in some schools of keeping a beard less then a fist. However, the following link (http://www.albalagh.net/qa/0071.shtml) and what I have read elsewhere proves that all four schools require a fist-full beard to fulfill the order of wajib. Also if reading the blessed lifestyles of the famous four Imams and their struggle in performing the less recognised Sunnah, one would find it hard for them to approve the ‘modern’ position as it seems more clear and obvious to keep a fist-full beard. Could you please refer to the above link and comment on it. Wouldn’t it be best for everyone to agree and go back to the original Sunnah, being a time of need and despair for the ummah?
Wasalaam.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

This very same question has been dealt with in the SunniPath QA (http://qa.sunnipath.com) a number of times.
