If one has a large number of make-ups, what’s the shortest way one can make the salah? i.e. so that one only does the necessary things.
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
One should not leave out the confirmed sunnas of prayer even in one’s makeups. Though one erred in fulfilling one’s obligation on time, the duty to pray properly remains, which included following the sunna of the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), who said, “Pray as you see me pray.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
Our makeup prayers are also going to be judged by Allah, and we will be rewarded or punished for them. Thus, while we should pray them at a steady, consistent, and fast pace, one should not rush one’s prayer.
Most rushing only fuels one’s delusions and desire to be ‘busy’: experience shows that people who make up the most prayers tend to be those who find sweetness and presence of heart in their prayer, and it is this that fuels their determination and enables them to actually make them up as they should.
If one finds it difficult to makeup prayers, the first thing is to look at oneself and remember the words of the Beloved of Allah,
“Be avid for that which benefits you. Rely on Allah and do not be incapable.” [Muslim, Ahmad, and others]
Organize your time, make a schedule of make up prayers that you stick to, and perform both your confirmed sunna prayers, which the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) essentially never left, as well as your makeup prayers.
In the rare situations where this proves difficult or not possible, consult a scholar and seek their advice.
And Allah alone gives success.
See attached answer(s).
BTW: May Allah give you all success in your determinations.
