Proper position of limbs in Sujud and Tashahhud

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

When placing the knees on the floor and when in sajda, how far apart should the knees be?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Ideally, the knees and ankles should be together. [Ibn Abidin]

When placing the hands on the floor and when in sajda, how far apart should the hands be? Are the hands placed next to the ears or under the ears?

The hands should be outstretched when praying alone, with one’s arms away from one’s body, and closer together when praying next to others so as not to inconvenience them.

When in Tashahhud, how far apart should the thighs be?

Ideally, together.

Wassalam,

Faraz.
