If sexual discharge exits a woman’s vagina after ghusl from marital relations, does she repeat her ghusl?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by MuslimaCoaching.com

Question: If sexual discharge exits a woman’s vagina after ghusl from marital relations, does she repeat her ghusl?

Answer:

Bismi Llahir Rahmanir Rahim

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatuLlahi wa barakatuhu

There are two possibilities:

  • the sexual discharge is her husband’s
  • the sexual discharge is her own

If she is certain that the discharge is her husband’s semen, then she would not repeat her ghusl. Instead, she washes away the filth and makes wudu.

If she is certain that the discharge is her own orgasmic fluid, then she would repeat her ghusl – unless she had urinated, walked briefly, or slept before taking her ghusl.

If she doubts between the two, then she would assume that it is her husband’s fluid. Thus, she washes away the filth and only makes wudu.

In all cases, she would not need to repeat the prayers that she prayed after taking her first ghusl.
