Do I need to wear hijab around male drivers who are not my relatives in my own home?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Assalamu Alaeikum

I have recently started wearing hijab.
however, we have 2 male drivers to drive us around as no one in our family has a licence. So even if i am just in the garden, there is usually a driver around.
Must i wear my head scarf as they are not any relatives of mine even though i am in my own home??
please advise me

Assalamu Aleikum

Answer
Waalaikumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh.
Bismillahir rahmaanir rahim.

Alhamdulillah due to the grace of Almighty for giving you the taufiq (ability) to go into hijab. May Allah reward you abundantly.

Allah SWT has stated in the Quraan :

‘…And they (believing women) should not expose their beauty except to their husbands or to their fathers or to their husbands’ fathers or to their sons or to their husbands’ sons or to their brothers or to their brothers’ sons or to their sisters’ sons or to their slaves or to those male attendants who have no sexual urges or to such children who are unconscious of females’ ‘aurah… (Surah An-Nur, verse 31)

It is therefore crystal clear that a woman should observe her hijab in the presence of na mahram men (those whom she can get married to) even if it is in her own home.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam.
