Bismillah
Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)
According to the Hanafis, It is not permissible for a woman to travel without a Mahram. However, if she done the Hajj without a Mahram, the Hajj (obligation) will be valid with dislikeness, but the account of her being involved in such a sin, she will have to Repent. (Hashiyatut Tahtawi pg. 728/ Aap ke Masaail aur unka hal vol. 4, pg. 82)
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, It is not permissible for a female to travel without her Mahram for three days.’ (Mishkaat vol. 1/ Tirmidhi Vl.3 pg.472) The Jurists have calculated the journey of three days as 77 kms.
The Hanbalis held an opinion similar to that of the Hanafis.
According to the Shafi’s, Hajj is not obligatory upon a woman until she finds a male Mahram relative or a husband or a group of trusted women. If she finds any of the previous three, it is obligatory upon her to perform Hajj. If she cannot find one of the three, she is not obliged to perform the Hajj.
The Malikis held an opinion similar to that of the Shafi’s adding that this secure group may be a group made up of men and women.
And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
