Performing one’s sunnats before joining the jamaat for fajr

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If one arrives in the musjid during the first rakat of fajr salah, and one still needs to perform his Sunnats, should he rush to complete his 2 Sunnats so as to try not to miss a rakaat or should he take his time and miss the rakaat?

A: He could perform it as short as possible keeping in mind the sunnats of namaaz.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
