Making logos for haraam products

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: “I’m a graphic designer and I was wondering whether it is permissible to design logos for:

  1. bed and breakfast who will use such logo also for the wine and sausages they produce [in Italy we have many bed & breakfast located in the countryside who also produce and sell typical countryside products included wines, sausages, etc.];

  2. Non-Muslim clothing brands.

  3. What about drafting business cards and similar advertising material for businesses and sellers who may also sell haram products?

  4. Finally, is it permissible to design logos containing Christian religious symbols (such as the Christian cross, which is present in many Italian municipalities flags/coat of arms, or the cross of pharmacies)?”

A: 1 – 2. It is not permissible for you to promote any of their haraam products in any way.

3. As above. This is even worse. A religious symbol will take one out of Islam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
