Turning the head to the right and left when giving the Iqaamah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Should the mukabbir turn his head to the right and left when saying the Iqaamah/takbeer?

A: There are three opinions in this mas’alah:

The first opinion is that the Mukabbir will not turn his head to the right and left in the Iqaamah.

The second opinion is that if the area where the Salaah is being performed is a big area, then the  Mukabbir should turn his head to the right and left at the time of saying حي على الصلوة and حي على الفلاح

The third opinion is that the Mukabbir should turn his head to the right and left regardless of whether the area is a big or small.

Acting upon any of the above three opinions is permissible in the Hanafi mazhab.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
