Raising the hands for Dua in Salaah

Q: In Arabian countries “Dua” will be recited by the Imam in gathering by lifting hands after “Dua-e-Qunoot” (before going for ruku’) in “Waib-ul- witar” Prayer during Ramzan, in particular and before going for Rukuh of third Rakahat of Maghrib Prayer in general and why this procedure is not practiced in India, Kindly enlighten this.

A: According to Hambalis and Shaafi`ees this method is preferable and according to Hanafis it is preferable to keep the hands folded.

( ويكبر قبل ركوع ثالثته رافعا يديه ) كما مر ثم يعتمد وقيل كالداعي ( وقنت فيه )

قال الشامي في رد المحتار : قوله ( ثم يعتمد ) أي يضع يمينه على يساره كما في حالة القراءة ح قوله ( وقيل كالداعي ) أي عن أبي يوسف أنه يرفعهما إلى صدره وبطونهما إلى السماء إمداد والظاهر أنه يبقيهما كذلك إلى تمام الدعاء على هذه الرواية تأمل (رد المحتار 2/ 6)
