The Taliban government

Q: I am a Hanafi and follow Deobandi ulama. I wanted to ask you some questions regarding Islamic government, more specifically the Taliban government in Afghanistan from 1996 till 2001. When the Taliban were in power, they would force men to pray Salah and keep beards. Those who did not, would be punished. Was this correct of them to have done this i.e enforcing the laws of Shariah by force? Most deobandi ulama say it was correct of the Taliban to have done this and I also agree but some commmon people beleive thats its wrong to force people to pray, keep beards, keep trousers above ankles for men etc. What is your opinion about this?

A: Refer to your local Ulama. They will be in a better position to explain these issues to you.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
