Purchasing groceries and household items in bulk

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My in-laws buy groceries and other household items in bulk every month. They say that there is more baraqah in buying in bulk. Is that not going against the Sunnah? Shouldn’t we live for the day and not plan ahead?

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible in Shariah for one to purchase in advance groceries and other household items that one would require in the future. This is not against tawakkul.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
