Assisting one’s partner with zakaat money

Q: I have a partner who has debts that needs to be paid off, instead of me giving my zakaat away to someone needy, could I give him that money to help him pay his debts?

Bismillaah

A: If you are referring to your friend who is your partner and he is eligible for zakaat, then you may assist him with your zakaat.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
