When should the muqtadi commence his salaah with the Imaam?

Q: I would like to know that when should we begin salaah with the imaam, after takbeer in namaz or before namaz. Can a person do itteba of imaam when he makes the niyat?

Bismillaah

A: One can only join the salaah after the imaam commences the salaah. The Imaam’s salaah commences with the takbeer.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
