Making qadha for Salaah missed while travelling

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to know what should I do if I miss a prayer in traveling? For example, the Zuher prayer is offered from 1 t 2 PM but when I reach home its already 4 PM. So what should I do in such a situation? Should I perform the complete Zuher prayer at 4 PM or only offer the farz (obligatory prayer)?

Bismillaah

A: If the zohar salaah time elapsed and the salaah became qadha while you were a musaafir, you will only perform two rakaats of qadha. You will not make qadha of the sunnats. If you were not a musaafir and you missed your zohar salaah, you will only perform four rakaats. You will not make qadha of the sunnats.

Note: It is a major sin for one to forgo his salaah. Sever grave warnings have been sounded for the one who forgoes his salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
