Reciting softly in maghrib Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If I am the Imam in maghrib Salaah and I mistakenly read qirat softly. Should I repeat the qiraat loudly? Should I read sajda e sahw?

Bismillaah

A: If you realised before completing three aayaat, then you should immediately begin reciting aloud and sajda-e-sahw will not be waajib. However if you recited the entire qiraat softly or you recited three ayaat or more softly, then sadja-e-sahw becomes waajib. If the sajda-e-sahw was not made, then it is compulsory to repeat the Salaah as long as the time of the Salaah did not elapse. Once the time of the Salaah passes, the Salaah will not have to be repeated.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
