It is permissible to keep the name Muhammad alone. Nabi (S.A.W.) advised us that when choosing a name for a child we should keep the name Muhammad. Fortunate is he who has the name Muhammad as this is the name chosen by Allah Ta’ala for his beloved.

The spelling of the name Muhammad is Muhammad.
