Duʿaʾ for someone living with an abusive family member
Question:
Are there any supplications in the Quran or Ḥadīths that someone living with an abusive family member can read?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Answer:
The following Duʿaʾs can be read:
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Our Lord, give us from our spouses and children comfort of eyes and make us heads of the God-fearing. (Quran, 25:74)
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ، وَالْقِلَّةِ، وَالذِّلَّةِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from poverty, insufficiency and humiliation, and I seek refuge in You from oppressing or being oppressed. (Sunan Abī Dāwūd, 1544)
