Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicPortal.co.uk

What is the Sunnah Qirāʾah for Eid Ṣalāh?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Answer

There are three combinations that have been transmitted from the practice of the Prophet ﷺ:

  • Firstly, Sūrah 50 (Qāf) and Sūrah 54 (al-Qamar) (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, 891).
  • Secondly, Sūrah 87 (al-Aʿlā) and Sūrah 88 (al-Gāshiyah) (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, 878).
  • Thirdly, Sūrah 78 (al-Nabaʾ) and Sūrah 91 (al-Shams) (Musnad al-Bazzār, 4808; al-Talkhīṣ al-Ḥabīr, 2: 203. This narration is weak as mentioned in Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid, 2: 204 but can be practiced upon).

Ḥāfiẓ Ibn al-Qayyim (d. 751/1350) mentions the first two combinations in Zād al-Maʿād (1: 205) and affirms that the Prophet ﷺ would recite the full chapters. It is therefore Sunnah to recite the full Sūrah and not suffice on a few verses.
