Salutations (durud) will rescue a person on the sirat (bridge)

Question

Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman bin Samurah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports, “On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) came to us and said, ‘Last night, I saw something extraordinary in a dream. I saw a man from my ummah who was crossing the sirat [the bridge over Jahannam]. At times, he was crawling, at other times, he was dragging himself on his behind, and sometimes, he was hanging onto the bridge [about to fall into Jahannam]. Suddenly, his salutations [durud] that he would recite upon me in the world came to him. It then held his hand, helped him to stand up on the bridge and assisted him to cross over it.”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with two chains. One chain is extremely weak and ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has declared the other chain weak.
