Question

Can you please give the reference of this narration?

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said:

“Increase supplication as one who constantly knocks on the door it will soon open”

 

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this statement of Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu). Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “Make du’a in abundance for whosoever constantly knocks on a door, it will soon open for him.”

(Shu’abul Iman: 1103. Also see Hadith: 1102)

شعب الإيمان (١١٠٢-١١٠٣): وبإسناده أخبرنا معمر، عن قتادة، أن أبا الدرداء رضي الله عنه قال: «من يكثر قرع الباب يوشك أن يفتح له، ومن يكثر الدعاء يوشك أن يستجاب له».

أخبرنا أبو نصر بن قتادة، أخبرنا أبو الحسن السراج، حدثنا أبو شعيب الحراني، حدثنا الشعبي، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة، عن ثابت، وحميد، وعلي بن يزيد، ويونس، عن الحسن، أن أبا الدرداء، كان يقول: «أكثروا الدعاء فإنه من أكثر قرع الباب يوشك أن يفتح له».
