An unreliable recital for the 15th of Sha’ban

Question

Please verify the authenticity of this narration:

“Whoever recites on the night of the 15th of Sha’ban a thousand times (Say Allah is one-Surah Ikhlas) in a hundred units of prayer he will not leave this world until Allah sends him in his sleep a hundred angels.”

Answer

The Muhaddithun have declared this narration a fabrication. It is therefore not suitable to quote.

The full Hadith is as follows:

“Whoever recites Surah Ikhlas one thousand times over one hundred rak’ahs on the night of the 15th of Sha’ban, Allah will send one hundred angels in his dream before he leaves this world. Thirty will give him glad tidings of Jannah, thirty will ensure his safety from Jahannam, thirty will protect him from sinning and ten will plot against his enemies.”

Note:

1) There are no specific types of Salah prescribed for the fifteenth (15th) of Sha’ban. One may engage in whatever form of ‘ibadah one is comfortable with.
