Partake of suhur to assist with fasting during the day

Question

Partake of Sehri to assist with fasting during the day and have a siesta to assist with standing up for prayer at night

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Partake of the pre dawn meal (suhur) to assist with fasting during the day and have a siesta to assist with offering [Tahajjud Salah].”

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1694. Also see: Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith: 1939)

Although the Hadith in question is weak, it is corroborated and suitable to quote.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
