Status of the narrator; Suhayb Abus Sahba

Question

I came across the narrator Suhayb Abus Sahba in Sunan Abi Dawud. Is he a reliable narrator?

Answer

Suhayb Abus Sahba Al Bakri was the freed slave of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).  He reported Hadith from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas, Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud and Sayyiduna ‘Ali ibn ‘Abi Talib (radiyallahu ‘anhum).

Imams Abu Zur’ah and Ibn Hibban (rahimahumallah) have declared him reliable (thiqah). In addition to Imam Abu Dawud, Imam Muslim and Imam Nasai (rahimahumallah) have also reported Hadith from him.
