Explanation of ‘فقدم علي من سعايته’

What is meant by the following part of the Hadith recorded in Sahih Muslim, Kitabul Hajj?

فقدم علي من سعايته

Answer

The literal translation is, ‘Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) returned/came from his collection/task’

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded the words, ”Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) returned from Yemen’ (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1651)

The commentators explain, Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) had went to Yemen as a judge or he went to oversee the collection of Zakah.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
