A beneficial form of salutation (durud)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is this Hadith sahih?

“Whoever gets happy by his deeds being weighed in the fullest scale when sending blessings upon us, the Ahlul Bayt, should say:

“O Allah! Confer blessings upon Muhammad the Nabi, and upon his wives the mothers of the believers, and upon his progeny and his family members, as you had conferred blessings upon the family of Ibrahim. Indeed You are Praiseworthy, Majestic.”

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud and others have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu). This Hadith is also reported by other Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum).

The Hadith is suitable to quote, although there is some technical differences among the scholars on the name of the Sahabi whose version is preferred.
