Is this Hadith authentic?

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with a very weak chain.

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 2529. Refer: Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 3 pg. 401, number: 6560)

However, The Hadith has been reported with other chains and is suitable to quote. See the other supporting versions here.

Translation

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) told Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu), “O my Son! If you can, then remain in the state of wudu perpetually, for if the angel of death takes the soul of someone and if he is in the state of wudu, he acquires shahadah (the rank of the martyrs).”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
