A sinner is given respite before the sin is recorded

Is this Hadith authentic?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The Angel who sits on one’s left [waits] for six hours after a Muslim sins. If he then regrets it (his sin) and repents, the Angel casts it aside and doesn’t write it down, but if he doesn’t, the Angel writes it down only as one sin.”
