Gaining knowledge and then teaching it is among the best of charity

Is this Hadith authentic?

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The best of charity is when a Muslim man gains knowledge, and then he teaches it to his Muslim brother.”

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 243)

‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain weak.

(Zawaid Ibn Majah, Hadith: 74. Also see: Targhib, vol. 1 pg. 98)

However, the Hadith is corroborated and suitable to quote. See here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
