Shaytan weeps when a person prostrates to Allah

Can you provide the reference for the narration which states that Shaytan withdraws crying and cursing himself when a person prostrates to Allah?

Answer

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration in his Sahih on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The full narration is as follows:

“When the son of Adam recites a verse of Sajdah and then prostates to Allah, Shaytan goes away and weeps. He says, ‘Woe to me, the son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, he prostrated and thus will receive Jannah. I was commanded to prostrate but I refused so I will go to Jahannam”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 81)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
