Whoever listens to music will be deprived of listening of listening to Quran in the Hereafter

Someone told me that a person who listens to music then on the day of Qiyamah, he will not be able to hear Allah Ta’ala reciting Quran.

Is this correct?

Answer

I have not come across a Hadith which mentions this.

I have come across the following Hadith, recorded by Imam Hakim Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) with a very weak chain:

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Al Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever listens to music, will not be permitted to listen to the ‘ruhaniyyun’ in Jannah. It was asked, ‘O Rasulullah! Who are the ‘ruhaniyyun’? He replied, ‘The [Quran] reciters of Jannah.’”

(Nawadirul Usul, Hadith: 691. Refer: Lisanul Mizan, vol. 3 pg. 274, number: 2741)

See the proofs of the prohibition of music in Quran and Hadith here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
