A fabricated narration on looking at the ‘awrah of a Muslim

Is this narration reliable?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever intentionally looks at the ‘awrah [private area] of a Muslim, Allah will not accept his Salah for forty (40) days”

Answer

The Muhaddithun have declared this narration a fabrication. It is therefore not suitable to quote.

(Refer: Dhaylul La-Alil Masnu’ah, vol. 2 pg. 516 and Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 2 pg. 214)

Although this particular Hadith is not suitable to quote, a person will be sinful for unlawfully looking at the ‘awrah of a Muslim. Kindly refer to a Mufti/Darul Ifta for further clarification.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
