Selling defective goods without pointing out the defect

How authentic is this Hadith?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever sells defective goods without pointing it out, will remain subject to the wrath of Allah, and the angels will continue to curse him.”

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Wathilah ibnul Asqa’ (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2247)

‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith weak. However, he states that the Hadith is corroborated by a Hadith in Sahih Muslim.

(Zawaid Ibn Majah, Hadith: 749)

The Hadith is therefore acceptable.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
