I want to check the authenticity of this Hadith:
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) declared, “Uhud is a mountain which loves us and which we love, it is upon the Gate of Heaven” adding, “And Ayr is a place which hates us and which we hate, it is upon the Gate of Hell.”
How authentic or sound is this narration? Can we quote it?
Answer:
This full report is recorded by Imams Bazzar and Tabarani (rahimahumallah) with an acceptable chain, and can be quoted.
(Musnad Bazzar; Kashful Astar, Hadith: 1199 and Majma’uz zawaid, vol.4 pg.13)
However, the first part of this (Uhud is a mountain which loves us and which we love) is authentically recorded by Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah).
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 2889)
Note: The reason for ‘Ayr being labelled as such is because it was the location of a stronghold of the hypocrites in that era.
(Fadul Qadir, Hadith: 241)
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
