Hadith on the abundant rewards for salutations

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,

“He who reads the durud once, Almighty Allah will bestow upon him ten blessings. He who reads the durud ten times, Almighty Allah will bestow upon him a hundred blessings. He who reads the durud hundred times, Almighty Allah blesses him a thousand times. He who reads the durud a thousand times, (on the Day of Qiyamah) at the door of Jannah (his shoulders will touch mine).”

(In other words, that is how close he will be to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam).

(Al Qawlul Badi)

Is this authentic?

Answer

The author of the kitab you have cited; ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) says he could not locate a chain for this Hadith.

(Al-Qawlul Badi’, pg.246)

One should quote the following one instead:

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:

‘He who sends salutations upon me ten times, Almighty Allah will bestow upon him a hundred blessings. He who sends salutations upon me hundred times, Almighty Allah blesses him a thousand times. I will be a witness and testifier on the day of Judgement for the one who increases on this out of love and enthusiasm.’

(Abu Musa Al-Madini with a reliable chain – لا بأس به- see Al-Qawlul Badi’, pg.236)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
