A lengthy discussion between Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) and a Bedouin

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

In Kanzul ‘Ummal , vol 16 , Hadith 44154 , there is a Hadith quoted about a Bedioun asking many brief questions from Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam)

What is the status of this Hadith?

Answer

The full chain of narrators for this has not been mentioned therein.

According to one of my senior Hadith Teachers, the signs of fabrication are quite apparent on this narration.

One should therefore abstain from quoting this Hadith until the chain can be located and then verified.

Note: When a Muhaddith says: ‘The signs of fabrication are evident’ on a particular narration, he has not actually classified it as a fabrication. Rather, all it means is that one should take precautions because that particular narration could really be a lie on our beloved Rasul (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam). It’s always safer to err while on the path of caution…

The reason the Muhaddithun (Hadith Masters) say this, is because after studying a vast amount of fabricated Hadiths, they are able to highlight certain factors that are commonly found in such narrations.

Since the Hadith masters generally prefer the line of caution in instances like the above, one is therefore discouraged from quoting such narrations.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
