Prohibition of using black dye

Is there an authentic Hadith prohibiting the use of black dye?

Answer

1) Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports:

Abu Quhafa was brought on the day of the conquest of Makkah to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). His hair was as white as flour. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said ‘Change this (whiteness) with some dye but abstain from using black

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2102, Sunan Abi Dawud: Hadith: 4201, Sahih ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 5472)

2) Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

‘A nation will come close to Qiyamah, utilizing black dye like the craws of birds, they will not even smell the fragrance of Jannah’

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4209)
