Assalamu alaykum Mufti Ismail Sahib,
Some Muslims dont’ want to take Homeopathy treatment because they say it’s haram, since it has alcohol. Is that correct ?
Wa’alaykum as Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,
If there are absolutely no alternatives, and a competent Muslim doctor advices one to consume the homeopathic medicines as a last resort, then it will be permissible.
On the contrary, if there are alternatives, then we would have to determine which ingredient is causing the medicine to become impermissible. You stated that is due to the alcohol. In that case, it will still be permissible, since the alcohol used in Homeopathic medicines is generally not made from dates and grapes. Likewise, the amount of alcohol is extremely minimal. Thus, Homeopathic medicines are permissible.
التداوي ولو للرجل بطاهر لا بنجس وكذا كل تداو لا يجوز إلا بطاهر وجوزه في النهاية بمحرم إذا أخبره طبيب مسلم أن فيه شفاء ولم يجد مباحا يقوم مقامه
وحاصل المعنى حينئذ : أن الله تعالى أذن لكم بالتداوي ، وجعل لكل داء دواء ، فإذا كان في ذلك الدواء شيء محرم وعلمتم به الشفاء ، فقد زالت حرمة استعماله لأنه تعالى لم يجعل شفاءكم فيما حرم عليكم

قوله : ” عن ابن عمر الخ “، قلت: معناه ان ما يطلق عليه الخمر سواء كان هذا الاطلاق على وجه الحقيقة او على وجه الالحاق والتشبيه، بناء على الاشتراك في مخامرة العقل، ومطلق الحرمة خمسة، خمر العنب، وخمر التمر، وهما خمران حقيقة، الا ان خمر العنب خمريتها قطعية، وخمر التمر خمريتها ظنية، وخمر الغسل، وخمر الحنطة، وخمر الشعير، وهي خمور على سبيل التشبيه دون الحقيقة، كما يقال: زيد اسد.
