Is my volunteer role halal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

I am working in a consulting group with non-muslims. Is it okay if they provide some haram solutions to a client but I will only provide halal solutions and I will only write down the halal solutions in the recommendation report? My boss is aware of this issue and has told me I am allowed to only contribute to solutions I feel are halal.

Answer

Wa ʿAlaykum Salām Wa Raḥmatullāh wa barakātuhu,

It is not only commendable but rather encouraged that you put forth permissible solutions to the clients.

You will not be held liable or responsible by Allāh in any way for the solutions provided by others, as each person will be answerable for his/her own actions.

We ask Allah to continue assisting you in providing permissible solutions to clients, and In Shā Allāh, it will be a means of guidance for the rest of the team in that they may see the beauty of Islam through the permissible solutions that you are providing.

We also encourage that you always seek guidance in such matters from the scholars and those who are religiously upright, as many blessings are gained through the avenue of consultation.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
