Efficiently using the last third part of the night.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Dear mufti, please can you advise me on some good deeds I can do in the last third part of the night in order of priority?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatulllahi wa barakatuhu,

When you wake up, wipe your eyes with the palms of your hands, pray the Duas of awakening, and recite from verse 190 to the end of verse 194 of Surah Aal ‘Imraan.

Perform ablution and pray 8 Rakats of Tahajjud prayer, in sets of four (2 x 4 Rakaats).

Read as much Quran as possible in these Rakats. Depending on how much of the Quran you know, it is best to use most of time to stand in prayer and recite.

Once you completed the prayer, you should engage in supplication. Allah Ta’ala readily accepts Duas made at this time.  Please make Dua for us as well.

As the end of the time approaches,  cry and beg Allah for forgiveness.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best

Wassalaam,
