Pronounciation of ض in surah fatiha.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

I am really confused please tell me the correct pronounciation of ض . Some imam finish the surah fatiha by saying gairil magzubi alayhim walazzaalleen and some specially in arab contries they say gairil magdubi alayhim waladdaallen. Please explain the correct one and why ض is pronounced in these two ways?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

It is incorrect to pronounce a ض as  a Z.

The correct way to pronounce a ض  is by making the side of the tongue touch the molars and pre-molars (of the top) on both sides or on one side.

The best is for you to learn and practise the correct method of pronunciation from a local Qari.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
