Adoption of a male boy aged 2.5 years who is a orphan

Answered by

Assalamualaikum Sir,

Actually my brother don’t have kids. Hence he adopted a boy aged 2.5 years who is a orphan and also belong to Non Muslim family. My brother named him a Muslim name.

My doubt is should he do Aqeeqah ( that is sacrificing two goats) for this boy?

Please reply.

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

It is indeed a noble act to bring up an orphan. Another great thing is that your brother has the oppurtunity  of bringing up this innocent child as a Muslim.

It is Mustahab (meritorious) to still do the Aqiqah of the child. Thus, if your brother has the means, it will be good for him to carry out the Aqiqah. And if he does not have the means at this stage, he may do the Aqiqah later.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
